A Stupa at the Hermitage of the Awakened Heart

Sponsored Sun Salutations

Amelia Faye, with a little help from her 3 year old son, completed 108 Sun Salutations in under one hour. She made over £600 for our Sangha.  This has bought the carpet for our new Shrine Room.  Amelia is a Friend of the Awakened Heart Sangha.

A Sponsored Walk....Snowdon, to the top and back.

We did it!!!

I thought you might like to know that we raised just over £7000!  Brilliant......This was the team that climbed to the top of Snowdon and down again... no train!

Yeshe Palmo is on the left in the red jacket.  She is about to do the Hadrian's Wall walk, raising funds for us again.  I don't think she will mind me sharing with you that she is 76 this year!

What a WONDERFUL day.  The rain stopped just as we started our ascent and 12 of us including Lama Shenpen made it to the top and down in very strong winds (50 mile an hour gusts!).  Scott managed to perform his Elvis songs, in full Elvis dress, at the top, which was a requirement from his sponsors. 

So here is a picture of the team, including our four guides on the right. We managed a fire puja and many prayers, songs and chants, with prayer flags flying.  We were a great photo oportunity for other walkers that managed it to the top.  Thank you to all who sponsored us!  If you would still like to send in a donation post-climb that would be great!

Dedicate a Prayer Flag

Klaus Engels, a student of Lama Shenpen, visited  India and Tibet in 2010. He offered to place a prayer flag at the Stupa in Kailash on your behalf. Our prayer flags are now flying! Klaus sent us some VERY moving emails of the last few days of getting to the top.  If you are a Friend or member of the AHS you will have read them in our newsletter.  This was no easy thing to do and I feel grateful and awed at the thought that a flag is flying with my dedication on it in such a special place. 

So, thank you Klaus and thank you to those of you that helped raise funds for the AHS.
